Upcoming duo recital by soprano Gillian Keith and tenor Tom Randle, accompanied by John Reid, at the Royal Over-Seas League in London, in their elegant Princess Alexandra Hall. Opening with duets and songs both passionate and sentimental, by Robert and Clara Schumann, Brahms and Schubert, the programme then makes its way to sunny Spain via Rossini’s ‘Les Amants de Seville’, Gounod’s ‘La Siesta’, and two settings of Gautier’s fiery ‘Ségildille’, one in a newly discovered version by Debussy. The centrepiece of the evening will be Tom Randle’s song cycle ‘Los Nacimientos’. Rapidly gaining international recognition for his compositions, this performance offers an excellent opportunity to hear his work in an intimate setting. Written especially for Gillian in 2007-2008 and set to evocative poetry by Pablo Neruda, these songs beautifully capture the influence of the ocean in Neruda’s writing and illuminate these extraordinary poems. This concert is in aid of ROSL Music Scholarships. Tickets £25, including sparkling wine and canapés. Tel: +44 (0)20 7408 0214 email: firstname.lastname@example.org
This programme will be repeated at the Opéra de Lille on 13th November, 2013.
