Road WhatsApp groups

There are instant messaging groups for many of the streets in the QBC Walthamstow E17 area. People post messages asking for help, tackling common issues, sharing news and passing on items. Neighbours often answer in seconds!

To join your nearest group:

1. Download and install WhatsApp
2. Send a SMS text message to 0773 820 7670 or an email to qbcmarkhouse@gmail.com that includes your:
   • name
   • mobile phone number
   • road where you live.

We’ll pass on your details to the administrator of the group covering your road so they can add you.

Group rules

1. Any ‘information’ posted must be directly from an official source.
2. Any second-hand information / rumour / questions about rumours will be deleted without reference by Road Admins
3. Road Admins only need to get involved where requests for help / offers of help need intervention – or escalation – for some reason
4. Road Admins may also need to intervene from time to time to keep the chat on track

We ask you only post about things that are

• specific to your road/QBC, or
• have a particular angle for your road/QBC

Otherwise there is no end of borough/London/UK/worldwide issues to post. There may well be local people affected/interest in such issues many will not be, and could leave or mute the group. There are other channels for those topics.
For example there are various places to sell or give away items you don’t want which are likely to be more effective for you than the street WhatsApp group.
Think before you post: will others feel it is neighbourly or spammy?
