Queens Boundary Community

An an area with wonderful people and activities between Markhouse Road, Lea Bridge Road and Hoe Street, in Walthamstow, London E17

Volunteers

Nothing happens without the efforts of our incredible volunteers. Find out more about them below and say hello and thanks when you see them. Think about talking to them or contact us about how you too can help our community to be better.

Adam

I’ve lived in Waltham Forest for five years and have lived around Lea Bridge and Markhouse since 2020 and now on Lily Road.

I’m really keen to improve the look and feel of the local area, making it somewhere people feel proud to live and with a strong sense of community. You might see me out litter picking, or doing a bit of guerrilla gardening.

I think QBC is a great example of resident power, and I’m impressed with what they achieve solely through local people volunteering their time. If more of us work together, we can make real improvements to where we live.

James

My wife and I came to Belgrave Road in 2018, having lived elsewhere in Walthamstow for the previous 14 years. You might spot us out walking our black greyhound Bosco.

I enjoy using social media and our website to highlight what’s happening in the area, to maximise the people who are informed and involved.

I love how often our community comes together, in wonderful ways, to look out for each other and our public spaces.

Saiba Salam

I live on Albert road and have done more or less all of my life

I guess I’m a community activist. I love anything that brings the local community together. As reflected in my jobs.

I am Social Prescriber for 3 local doctor’s surgeries. Connecting patients to activities/initiatives in the community is my thing. I love being able to make a difference to people’s well-being and nurturing confidence and resilience within them.

As Vice-Chair of Waltham Forest Women’s Network, I love regularly sharing events/initiatives with QBC. I am particularly passionate about uplifting women and bringing local women together.

Vieve

I moved to Belgrave Road with Helen in August 2009 – so been here almost 13 years now. I am passionate about helping to make my community as cohesive and together as possible.

The challenges we faced during the COVID-19 pandemic are just a taster of what is to come as the full effects of climate change begin to impact on all of us.  I want to help build a resilient, self-sufficient community where neighbours know each other and help out – plus have fun and enjoy each other’s company at regular events and activities throughout the year.

My Favourite thing about QBC is the fact that every time I step out my door I see and speak with people I know, who know me.  We can just say hi, or — if we have a little time — we stop and pass the time of day on quiet streets filled with trees, flowers and people.
