History

The building dates from the late Victorian era, commonly known as an ‘iron clad’ or ‘tin tabernacle;. It was purchased second hand from Battersea and brought here in 1900. It then served as a temporary church until the brick St Barnabas church was completed in 1903. The street was then renamed from Stafford Road to St Barnabas Road.
